ALEX LIRA IS A CHEF, SAILOR, AND CURATOR OF (VERY) GOOD TIMES.

James Beard Award semi-finalist and luminary in the Charleston restaurant scene, Alex Lira honed his culinary technique in New York City at Craft under renowned Chef Tom Colicchio. But it was Brooklyn’s sister restaurants Diner and Marlow & Sons that allowed the chef to develop the artistry that still shines through his dishes today.

A focus on the food, dedication to local ingredients, and mindfulness of experience gained Lira a loyal following at The Lot on James Island and earned him a James Beard Foundation nomination for Best Chef at Bar Normandy.

Alex is currently co-owner of Eater Charleston's Restaurant of the year 2021, Bar George. Fortunately, Alex has staffed Bar George with incredible talent that has afforded him the space to focus on a new chapter in his life.

Sailing has always been a passion, and Alex recently seized the opportunity to to pursue it fully, combining his two loves. He currently operates harbor tours as first mate on a local charter boat and is crewing in the Caribbean islands for the winter season.
